1 Minute in Hamilton County: Conner Prairie

Get ready to start making something!

Think Conner Prairie is all about Prairietown, the hot air balloon and Symphony on the Prairie? Think again. I visited a great new exhibit, the Makesmith Workshop. It’s inside the main building at Conner Prairie. There, you can pick up a hammer, learn to sew and a whole lot more. It all beckons back to the fundamentals of creating. Use a needle and thread to learn the basics of sewing or grab a hammer and saw to practice woodworking techniques.

As Rachel Poe told me, anyone who can go to Conner Prairie can visit the Makesmith Workship. – Conner Prairie’s new, permanent exhibit – offers a hands-on experience that gets back to the fundamentals of creating. Themes will change periodically, featuring new tools, crafts and activities that will offer opportunities to work with textiles, wood, metal, pottery and more. Check out my latest interview with Rachel.
